AHIP issues Report related to Medigap Coverage

The following facts were revealed by America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) in its report.  Out of ten, nine seniors registered in Medigap are content with their coverage, according to a new American Viewpoint survey released by America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP). The survey holds that seventy-nine percent of beneficiaries are of the view that their policy provides good value for the money, and the vast majority about 91 percent would suggest Medigap to a friend or relative.

AHIP also released a report viewing that the number of seniors preferring Medigap coverage has been constantly rising, reaching 9.8 million enrollees in 2011.

Medicare supplement (Medigap) insurance is private health insurance created to supplement Medicare Plan. It offers coverage, at different levels, for the considerable out-of-pocket costs that are not covered by Medicare, like deductibles, coinsurance, and copayments. Medigap coverage permits seniors and younger Medicare enrollees with disabilities to plan for medical costs and avoid the confusion and hassle of handling complex medical bills.

Karen Ignagni, President and CEO of AHIP, is of the view that Medigap coverage provides seniors with financial security and peace of mind about their health care coverage.
